Hydraulic Structures – Design and Construction Considerations

Nathan will showcase project examples of hydraulic structures. The types of structures will be related to hydroelectric powerhouses/dams, water control/water conveyance structures, flood control, etc. He will cover design considerations & standards, condition assessment & rehabilitation of existing structures, as well as constructability considerations.

Biography:

Nathan graduated from Sac State in 1999 and has 20 years of experience. He is a licensed structural engineer. He is experienced with design and construction of concrete and steel structures, with an emphasis in hydraulic structures. He has provided structural design for water resources projects including dams, pump stations, water control structures, intakes, outlet structures and control buildings. Nathan has prepared document plans, details and calculations. Nathan has also provided construction support by reviewing shop drawings and resolving construction issues with contractors and clients. As a manager, Nathan has been responsible for multiple engineers’ workload, leading teams to success by emphasizing effective communication and responsiveness. Nathan is a trusted advisor to regulated utilities, public agencies and water and irrigation districts.

Nathan also enjoys biking, kayaking, obstacle races, traveling and spending time with his 3 children. He is also a huge Star Wars fan.
